Listed below are links to weblogs that reference A* for Galore Park?s Study Guides.:

"What's a textbook?" asked my latest pupil, aged 13. They did sometimes use books at school, but were never allowed to take them home. Why? Obviously because some children would lose them, leave them at home, just not take care of them with no sanctions. In Spain, children have a large book for each subject, and bring them to school in mochilas,?trolley bags which are parked in the corner of each classroom. They would be too heavy to carry. Spanish parents have to buy their children's books, but get a grant towards them.?Our schools have spent their money instead on whiteboards and computers, which allow attractive presentation, but too often at the expense of study.?

I loaned my pupil CGP's KS3 Science, which covers all of his current work, and is well written in a friendly style. GCP books are super, and have made their author a fortune. Highly recommended for all basic subjects.

Galore Park, whose clients are mostly private schools, has spotted the proverbial gap in the market at the top end, though, and has produced IGCSE/A* guides for English, Physics, Biology and Chemistry. These books are very clearly written, with detailed explanations of both their subjects and exam requirements, very well laid-out and beautifully illustrated. They will be of great help with lesson planning, and can be highl recommended to parents who want their children to aim high. Maths next, please!
